About the Dallas Orthopaedic Trauma Institute

The physicians and staff of Dallas Orthopaedic Trauma Institute (DOTI) utilize a team approach to provide a critical orthopaedic trauma services to the Dallas-Fort Worth community. The Institutes’ team approach provides resources and experience necessary to care for the most serious musculoskeletal injuries and complex orthopaedic conditions.

Methodist Dallas Medical Center is a Level II Trauma Center, as verified by the American College of Surgeons. As one of only three adult trauma centers in Dallas County, Methodist Dallas is prepared to handle a wide range of severe injuries. This designation means that Methodist Dallas is qualified, staffed, and equipped to provide advanced care for all forms of trauma, 24 hours a day. Methodist Dallas is a primary destination for trauma cases throughout southwest Dallas.

More than 10,000 North Texans receive trauma care at Methodist Dallas Medical Center each year, with about 1,700 admitted to the hospital. Many of these patients are transported by Dallas CareFlite, which serves critical patients in a 150-mile radius of Methodist Dallas.

As a Level II Trauma Center, the following services are available at Methodist Dallas:

  • 24-hour emergency services
  • 24-hour immediate general surgery services
  • 24-hour on-call coverage in the following specialties
    • Anesthesiology
    • Critical care
    • Emergency medicine
    • Neurosurgery
    • Orthopedic surgery
    • Radiology

As a Level II Trauma Center, Methodist Dallas is committed to trauma and injury prevention and to continuing education for members of the trauma team. By 2014, the Charles A. Sammons Trauma and Critical Care Tower will expand our ER and trauma capacity tenfold, and bring life-saving care to more than 60,000 of our neighbors in need each year.
